It is not unusual for women with complex health concerns to fall through the cracks of our highly specialized health care system. Since complex health problems usually need the benefit of time to gather and sort health information and design a treatment plan, MBC midwives have often served as care coordinators for women by providing comprehensive wellness care and making referrals to specialists as needed. All records are sent back to the birth center so we can continue to help orchestrate the care plan without the client feeling scattered.
Treatment and referral plans often include a mix of traditional and complementary approaches, with special care given to supporting the general health of the client with lifestyle changes. Typical issues include gastrointestinal problems, migraines, and premenstrual syndrome.
We are also happy to see women with single health care concerns such as upper respiratory infections and breast lumps. We are happy to serve as a primary care source for women, and will refer to specialists as needed.
Madison Birth Center midwives are licensed to prescribe medications as needed.
