Birth Centers achieve exceptional safety rates by providing close personal attention and empowering women to be active in their care. All personnel providing care in the Madison Birth Center are either Registered Nurses or Certified Nurse-Midwives licensed by the State of Wisconsin. All personnel hold current CPR and neonatal resuscitation provider (NRP) cards. Emergency equipment and medications are available for mother and baby at all times.
Madison Birth Center adheres to written Practice Guidelines that delineate the safe parameters of care in the Birth Center environment. When necessary, consultation with an obstetrician, family physician or pediatrician, along with transport to the hospital is provided for our clients.

Madison Birth Center is accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers. To achieve accreditation, a birth center's services are comprehensively evaluated against national standards of quality care.
Accreditation is a mark of excellence - a signal to families, insurance companies and other health care providers that the center has been reviewed by outside evaluators and found to provide consistent high-quality care.
BABY-FRIENDLY DESIGNATED
Madison Birth Center is one of only 54 hospitals and birth centers in the USA to receive designation as a "Baby-Friendly" birth facility.
This prestigious international award gives special recognition to birth facilities that provide breastfeeding mothers the information, confidence, and skill needed to successfully begin and continue breastfeeding their babies.
The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) is a global program sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to encourage and recognize hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of breastfeeding support for mothers and their babies.
