Parenting Conference Update
Registration is well underway for our Second Annual Conference - "Exploring Possibilities in Parenting." This exciting day-long event will be held at the Marriott Conference Center in Middleton on Saturday, September 18th, 2004. We welcome nationally acclaimed speakers Ariel Gore, Dr. Bob Sears, and Aviva Jill Romm who will each lead multiple workshops of interest to parents. Bob and Aviva will also participate on our panel discussing childhood immunizations.

We have organized this conference to both be affordable and provide flexibility for busy families, so you may register to participate for the full day or only a portion of the event. Childcare is available during the afternoon session for younger children, and lots of fun activities are scheduled for kids 6 and up. For complete conference information, or to register online, please visit our website: madisonbirthcenter.com/conference.htm.

Featured Speaker: Ariel Gore
Ariel Gore will open the "Exploring Possibilities in Parenting" conference with a keynote speech entitled "Surviving Motherhood in the New Millenium." Ariel is the creator and editor of the "HipMama" mama-zine and website. She uses humor to tell the story of the newest generation of mothers as they balance work, family, and the creation of a larger community. Ariel will also present two workshops: "'Whatever, Mom'. . . Parenting Teens," and "Mama-zines and Blogging - Activating the Mother`s Voice."

Ariel's most recent book is Whatever, Mom: Hip Mama's Guide to Raising a Teenager. Her other books include: Atlas of the Human Heart, Breeder: Real-Life Stories from the New Generation of Mothers, The Mother Trip: Hip Mama's Guide to Staying Sane in the Chaos of Motherhood, and The Hip Mama Survival Guide.

Ariel redefines the power of mothers, and her words inspire and motivate all mothers to view their daily challenges as intertwined with the struggle for social change.
