Midwifery Care

Midwifery care
aszani and babyMidwifery care is based on the simple and powerful belief that pregnancy and childbirth are normal processes in the lives of women and families. The woman is the focus of care at the Madison Birth Center. Through this one-on-one, health-centered care, she is empowered to make decisions about her care and place of birth.
Another important aspect of midwifery care lies in developing relationship between pregnant women and their midwives. Each Madison Birth Center client has ample opportunity to get to know her midwives throughout her care. She can expect that the midwife who attends her during and after the birth knows her well. This midwife stays with her throughout labor, providing both physical and emotional labor support.

In the midwifery model of care, normal, healthy pregnant women can give birth safely in a variety of locations, including birth at home or in the birth center. The birth team will work with each woman to achieve the birth she desires. We encourage the active participation of childbearing families and invite their participation in every phase of their care.
