
Madison Birth Center has an outstanding advisory board that assists us in ongoing strategic planning. It is comprised of individuals with business and medical expertise, along with consumer representatives. Each member brings a unique and important viewpoint to our decision-making.

Scott Beatse, MD
Scott is a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist. He earned his medical degree from the Tulane University School of Medicine, then served his internship and residency with the United States Air Force in Texas. He became interested in medicine while doing missionary work on a small island off the Caribbean coast of Panama. While there, he saw how essential visiting doctors were to the community. Now that he is in private practice, he still tries to make an annual mission trip as often as he can to help some of those who don't have access to quality health care.
Anne Eglash, MD
Anne is a clinical assistant professor for the University of Wisconsin Medical School in the Dept of Family Medicine. She is a board certified family physician and spends most of her time practicing clinical medicine in Mt. Horeb, WI. She is also a lactation consultant, and she is the medical director of the outpatient lactation program at Meriter Hospital. She is a cofounder of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine, an international physician organization that focuses on expanding breastfeeding education for physicians and other health professionals worldwide. Anne takes a special interest in maternal-child health, and has been active in promoting the establishment of Baby-Friendly health care centers, as well as the advancement of human milk banking for the state of Wisconsin. She continues to provide ongoing breastfeeding education for medical students, residents, practicing physicians, and other health professionals through lectures and many various publications.
Virginia Graves
Ginny has been a Principal and Senior Consultant at The Management Group (TMG), a Madison-based consulting firm whose mission is assisting organizations to build, manage and improve quality care systems for people with chronic health conditions, since 1993. She has a broad background in managed care and oversees TMG's comprehensive regulatory and compliance activities for Wisconsin-based insurers. For over a decade, she has worked with multiple community-based organizations, insurers, and state and county governments to support their efforts to review and implement a broad range of government payer programs. This includes providing comprehensive services to facilitate the planning, implementation, and ongoing innovation of managed care models that provide coordinated care to populations with complex health, long-term care and mental health needs. The family cottage in Bayfield provides the escape to relax, kayak, and enjoy the year around beauty of the Apostle Islands.
Vicki Hegerfeld, DC
Vicki comes to the board as a consumer advocate. In July of 2003, she delivered her daughter in a water birth at Madison Birth Center. She is also a chiropractor and owner of Family Health Chiropractic, located on the west side of Madison. Vicki did her undergraduate schooling at University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. She has been in practice for 12 years, and has developed a practice largely focused on prenatal and pediatric issues.
Bill Kunkler
Bill is Executive Vice President for The Fiore Companies where his responsibilities include financial management and organizational planning, banking relations, and general management of corporate operations. A Certified Public Accountant and a licensed real estate broker, Bill graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor's degree in Accountancy. He serves on the Board of Directors for Downtown Madison, Inc., Accelerate Madison and Meriter Retirement Services. Bill has had a passion for childbirth for over 25 years, since the home birth of his first child in 1979.
Alice O'Connor
Alice is the Director of Government Relations at Murphy Desmond. Prior to this position, she served as Senior Vice President of Government Relations and Strategic Projects for the Wisconsin Medical Society. Alice has also owned a contract lobbying business that served clients in health care, timber, paper, small business, pharmaceuticals, rail and nonprofit organizations. Alice has a Bachelors Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Masters Degree in Journalism from the University of Oregon-Eugene.
Jodi Streicher-Bremer
Jodi serves on the advisory board as a consumer advocate. She had her first child with the support of the Birth Center in 2003 and her second child was born in the water at MBC in December 2005. She is a licensed Clinical Psychologist currently mothering on a full-time basis. Jodi is involved with the MOMS Club Madison-West chapter, co-facilitates a parenting group through the First Unitarian Society, and is involved with various political activist work in the community.
Rylee Wedekind
Rylee brings more than 14 years of experience providing and implementing marketing and communications strategies to both public and private corporations. Rylee is a member-owner of two technology companies in Madison, WI. Matador Consulting LLC provides information technology services and 5Nines Data LLC is a Madison area Internet Service Provider. Her small business responsibilities include sales, financials, personnel, administration as well as web development and marketing consulting to clients. Her passions include German Shepherd Dogs, travel, genealogy, fine wines and great friends.
