Our Doctor referred us to the Madison Birth Center after we expressed concern about giving birth in a hospital environment.
After leaving from our first appointment, Mike and I felt overjoyed and filled with relief that our dream birth was now a reality! Weeks went by and all along, I received exceptional care from the midwives.
It wasn’t until my last month of pregnancy that my blood pressure began to spike. There was concern that I was experiencing symptoms of preeclampsia. After being admitted to the hospital a few times, the plan was to induce me a week before my due date. I had to transfer my care from the Birth Center to the hospital. Mike and I headed to the hospital the night they were going to induce me but after labs were collected, all were within normal range so they decided to send us home. However, the very next morning at around 6:00 am, my water broke! So we grabbed our bags and headed to the hospital again. We called our midwife, Mary to tell her the news and were so touched when she said she would be my doula for the birth!
Mike and I had planned to get married on this day. The Judge, who happened to be a family friend, came to the hospital to marry us anyway despite the fact that I was in labor! So just hours before our beautiful daughter was born, Mike and I became husband and wife!
Labor officially began at around 11:30AM and Olivia was out by 3:30! She was 6 pounds, 7 ounces and born on 8-9-10! Our most precious baby girl, Olivia Jane is loved more than words can say and we are forever grateful for the care and support we received from the Madison Birth Center!
